Fall news from the Library
It’s Fall Y’all!
Time to cozy up with a good book club, a bookmobile, and an author event:
• Project Lit book club has its first meeting this Friday, at 8am in the Library classroom. Please sign your student up on the JT Moore Library website & find out more about the Project Lit Community here: https://jtmoorelibrary.weebly.com/project-lit.html
• Peggy the Parnassus Bookmobile will be visiting the JT Moore Carnival this Saturday with an amazing selection of books for our community. 10% of all sales go to the JT Moore library to purchase important items that keep our library up-to-date, clean, and full of students. Please consider supporting the library with a purchase.
• Parnassus is also hosting the sister of our own Ms. Ford, the brave and amazing Anastasia Higginbotham, author of Not My Idea: A Book about Whiteness. Not My Idea is a picture book that invites white children and parents to become curious about racism, accept the fact of it, and to enter into the work of cultivating a more just world. A School Library Journal starred review called it, “A much-needed title that provides a strong foundation for critical discussions of white people and racism, particularly for young audiences. Recommended for all collections.” That is high, well-earned praise from our library’s professional community! There are so many ways to be a good, true, and beautiful community. Showing up for rich and important conversations like this is one of them. Event date and link: Thursday, October 25, 2018 – 6:30pm @ Parnassus Books
I hope the weather has everyone feeling cooler (in every way). Everyone matters. Big time.
