News from Hughes – July 26, 2018
Dear 7th grade Matadors and Parents,
This is a reminder that all incoming 7th graders must have additional immunizations and have those immunizations logged on an official State of Tennessee immunization form that must be turned into the front office on or before the first day of school. 7th grade students who have not had these additional immunizations by the first day of school cannot attend school until these have been obtained and documentation turned in to the front office. This is a requirement of the State of Tennessee. After the third missed day of school, students will be found to be in violation of the mandatory school attendance law and will be issued a truancy warning, truancy citation, and/or an order to appear before the Davidson County Juvenile Court. Again, additional immunizations for rising 7th graders is state law that principals of schools are required to enforce.
Please ensure that your child has had these booster shots before the first day of school on August 7th and that you have turned your documentation in to Michelle Stapleton or Brooke Elder in the front office on or before this date. Do not bring your child to school if he/she has not met the immunization requirement. Any out of zone student who has entered JT Moore through the lottery process who does not come to school the first week of school can lose his/her position at JT Moore and will be asked to return to his/her school of zone. Students who are absent the first week of school may have their schedules changed in order to accommodate students who are in attendance.
Although this letter is strongly worded, please know that I am looking forward to seeing you all in 12 days. You are loved and wanted.
If you have turned in your immunization form already, thank you.
Dr. Gary D. Hughes, Executive Principal, John Trotwood Moore Middle School
