Matador Destination Imagination teams advance!
Two JTM teams scored victories at the Destination Imagination Regional Championship last Saturday. Destination Imagination is a contest that incorporates teamwork, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving. Teams select a challenge and use STEAM skills to solve it. They must complete the challenge without help or interference from adults, and their work is judged on a rubric of creativity, effectiveness of storytelling and integration of required elements, technical design, innovation, quality, and workmanship. An additional timed competition, the Instant Challenge, tests the team’s ability to improvise and solve a problem with limited instruction and material. Both of the following JTM teams advance to State on April 6 at Spring Hill High School:
The Domestic Cheerios — Pax Duker-Johnson, Sam Vincent, Griffin Stepakoff, and Cal Brock — designed a Monopoly game with a life size game board and container box that transformed into various components of the game.
The Mini Dragon Socks — Madeleine Twyford, Charlotte Chappell, Mary Helen Russ — designed a presentation that supported the Harpeth Conservancy and included elements of escape, suspense, and clues.
