Tornado relief- from Dr. Hughes

 In Community, Current Events

I would encourage our families who want to help with disaster recovery to organize and direct their efforts through the following official organizations:

Individuals interested in volunteering can express interest through our partners at Hands On Nashville.

Those looking to support the immediate disaster relief efforts can do so through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Emergency Response Fund.

Individuals wishing to donate blood can do so through the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center located at 2201 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37203 or can donate to the Tornado Relief Telethon at rdcrss.org/cmt

Non perishable foods are needed and can be dropped off at the Second Harvest Food Bank located at 331 Great Circle Rd, Nashville, TN 37228

Clothing, food, blankets, sleeping bags, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other items can be dropped off at Pearl Cohn High School today and tomorrow. The school is located at 904 26th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208

Finally, families wishing to donate cash to the family of 7th grader, Joshua Cartmell, and to our transportation supervisor at JT Moore, Ms. Rosalind Pinchon, can do so through Venmo. My Venmo account name is @gdhughes2020

Joshua’s mother lost their only vehicle in the tornado and their house was severely damaged. Ms. Rosalind’s home was destroyed and she lost everything. All monies received through my Venmo account will be split between the two families. Persons who make donations to my Venmo account that has been set up specifically to receive donations for these two JT Moore families are welcome to review all transactions and distributions of funds raised in order to provide absolute transparency and accountability.
