The JT Moore Lady Matadors defeated Meigs Friday 2-0 at Rosepark under the lights in the City Championship!

The Ladies outplayed Meigs this evening and avenged a 1-4 scrimmage loss to Meigs from earlier in the season!  The defense was super stout this afternoon and played their best match of the season!  Gigi Bowman and Emma Russell shut down Meigs’ top player on the defensive left side!  Rebecca Sanchez shut down Meigs’ shifty forward on the defensive right side all match!  Emma Berry and Ellis McDermott held down the defensive middle all afternoon!  Jenny Lott had several nice saves throughout the match.  Late in the first half Meigs earned a PK off a foul in the box.  Their top player stepped to the mark and took the shot which Jenny Lott stopped to preserve Moore’s 1-0 lead in the first half!

Sophie Stein battled all afternoon at center-mid and was amazing!  Playing her best match of the season!  Simone Longenecker was stout on the left side and helped Gigi and Emma R. shut down Meigs’ top player!  Maddie Vaughn and Grace Dyer had the right side mid-field on lock down all day!  Bethany “The Gunner” Guinness led her team to victory one last time before she heads off to High School next season!  Bethany battled all day and put Moore up 1-0 at halftime as she fought to pound a rebounding ball into the back of the net!  Mya “The Runner” Love pressed the attach all afternoon, working Meigs’ defense to the breaking point!  It looked like Mya had a nice volley into the goal mid second half, which would have put the match away!  Unfortunately an offsides was called and Mya was denied the finishing goal.  Mya kept working hard and earned the finishing goal with seconds left in the match to put Meigs down hard!

The Ladies had a very good size crowd come out and cheer them on!  It was nice to see several of the older teammates from last season come out and cheer the Ladies on to victory!  We appreciate everyone who came out and cheered the Ladies on to back to back City Championships!  The Ladies are already focused on the three-peat as they work to create a Middle School dynasty!
