Girls volleyball wins the City Championship!

The Matador Volleyball team won the City Championship Thursday night, defeating Bellevue twice to take the crown. The Matadors defeated Madison (21-5, 21-9) and Rose Park (21-17, 18-21, 15-12) Wednesday night to follow the winner’s bracket into Thursday’s matches. The team won the first Bellevue match handily in straight sets (21-15, 21-11). But, in the championship game, Bellevue took the first set 18-21 behind very solid serving. The Matadors settled down to take the final two sets, 21-10 and 15-7, winning the City Championship for the 13th time in Coach Kurzrock’s time at JT Moore.

Matadors named to the City Tournament Team were Jasmin Atagi, Lydia Hilt, Stella Graziano, Lee Taylor, Haley Staton and Lev Longenecker.
