Robert Paxton, STEAM

My name is Robert Paxton. This is my second year teaching in Nashville and my 7th year overall. I have taught science ever year up to this, but am excited about taking on the role of STEAM Teacher for all grades. I have a diverse background including a Bachelor’s degree in K-8 education and a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction focused on reading. I am very excited about this new year and the fun experiences and challenges it will bring.

I have two beautiful daughters and an amazing girlfriend (who is also a teacher in Nashville). My family encourages me to be the best I can be in all aspects of my life and I love them deeply. They make me a better father, teacher and person. I couldnt ask for a better group of people to spend my life with as they complete me.

I was born in Springfield Massachusetts, and moved around a lot as my dad was in the Navy. I am currently a SSG in the TN Army National Guard and am very proud of my service and all I have accomplished in my military career. I plan to stay in the Guard until I can retire. I have been deployed overseas and use all that I have learned to help motivate and provide real life scenarios for our scholars.

I love sports and playing video games. I love spending time with my family. We enjoy going to the drive in movies and hanging out with each other. We have two dogs and one fish. We have a lot of love and a lot of fun when we are together.

I look forward to meeting each of you and your scholars as the school year begins. I’m excited about taking your engineers down a hands-on, minds-on experience through STEAM Discovery and will engage them in fun filled challenging projects where success will not always be measured in completing the project but from the experience gained throughout the process.
