Rock McLean, Special Education Coordinator

I am very excited to be here at JT Moore Middle School.  This is my second year here and is a very big change for me.  I had taught at Murrell Special Day School for the last 15 years.  I was born and raised in Montana and graduated from Montana State University when right after I joined the Peace Corps and taught in a very rural community in Paraguay, South America.  After the Peace Corps, I taught in a high school and in an elementary school in Albuquerque, New Mexico for three years.  I still had the travel bug so I then applied for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools and taught first grade at Iraklion Air Station on the island of Crete, Greece for the next four years.  I then returned to Albuquerque and taught once again at another high school in special education for the following three years.  I moved to Nashville in 1998 and took a teaching job teaching Spanish at Antioch High School.  I then interviewed and obtained the teaching job at Murrell Special Day School, eventually making my way here to JT Moore.  I have been blessed with two amazing sons, Cameron and Stuart, ages 22 and 20.  Stuart is attending UTC in Chattanooga and Cameron works at a restaurant here in Nashville.
