Kristine Mains, 6th grade English language arts

I have been an educator for twenty years. I have taught Freshman English, Science, Kindergarten, Third Grade, and Sixth Grade English. My favorite thing about teaching is learning from my students…YES! Yes, I love learning from my students about what they like to do and how they think. This helps me find ways to help them become avid readers and express themselves through writing. I love to make up silly songs, learn about words, and discover new books. As for my family…I have two children. My daughter, Anna, graduated from JTMoore and is training to be a professional ballerina. My son, Max, is a chef and playwright in Chicago. I have two rescue dogs, Lana and Bella. They love to play fetch, swim in the lake, and chase deer at my farm in Illinois. My cat, P2, makes me sneeze! When I have time, I travel with my husband, Chip, to visit my stepson, Evan, who works in China. We like to cook gourmet food, four-wheel, take hikes, scuba dive, and garden.

I have a BA in English from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN and a Masters degree in Education from Vanderbilt.

I am looking forward to my fourth year teaching at JTMoore!
