Instrument Petting Zoo 2019
We will be conducting an “Instrument Petting Zoo” on Thursday, August 8th in the J. T. Moore Auditorium at 5:30pm. All 5th grade parents and students are welcome to come out for your child to try out the different instruments in the band and strings programs. There will be professional players/instructors on each instrument guiding each child on the instrument on embouchure, hand position, and technique.
We will start the meeting in the auditorium and will be giving handouts about rental programs, instrument contracts, private lessons, etc. After the brief meeting, students interested in trying out band instruments will go to the cafeteria and band room for percussion instruments. Students wanting to try string instruments will stay in the auditorium and stage area.
We would ask that students and parents stay together as much as possible to keep children from running or wandering into remote parts of the building. There will be expensive instruments in many places and smaller children should be carefully monitored. This will also help in communicating valuable information from the instructors to the parents.
In order to manage each instructor’s time, we ask that siblings or other family members not try out the instruments out of curiosity but wait until he/she is in 5th grade.
Please come out with your 5th grader and take advantage of these professionals and receive some valuable instrumental music information!
