Welcome to the 5th and 6th grade football program at JT Moore Middle School.  The Raiders are a “club” team and play in the Southwest Nashville Football League (SWNFL) against schools such as Oak Hill, FRA, Ensworth and CPA.  While not an officially sanctioned sport by Metro and JTM, the Raiders practice on the school fields after school.  Boys zoned for Moore that are attending magnet schools are also eligible to play.

Bill Garrett is returning for his second year as head coach.  Bill has many years of youth football experience with other programs as well as the JTM program.  Also returning for his second year is Phil Grammer.  Phil is a long time football coach in Metro high schools, including head coach at Hillsboro, McGavock and Fairview High Schools.

For most of the boys, this is the first opportunity to play organized, tackle football.  For those of you who currently play in another organized league, we would encourage you to consider playing with your classmates at Moore.  Highlights of the program include:

• Separate 5th and 6th grade teams with combined practices
• Development of camaraderie with classmates.
• Practice immediately after school (4-6pm) allowing parents to pick up after work
• Practices begin on Wednesday, August 4th
• 3 or 4 practices per week (every day the week of Aug 9 until school starts)
• All games are on Saturday morning (either 8:30am, 9:45am or 11:00am)
• 7 game schedule with final games on October 9 (Total time commitment is 10 weeks)
• SWNFL registration fee is $110 per player (financial aid is available)
• Raider booster fee of $35 is requested.  This is used to offset the cost of blockings sleds, tackling dummies, footballs, etc.
• Players provide their own equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, pants, mouthpiece, practice jersey, cleats) approximate cost is $150 – assistance available.
