Ms. Lloyd, Orchestra and Strings
Ms. Lloyd has been passionate about the cello since she began to play it at the age of eight. This German native immigrated to America as a member of a large musical family when she was very young. With ten siblings and parents, they basically had an orchestra in their own home! After high school and music conservatory, Ms. Lloyd became a string teacher and professional cellist, and landed a position with the Nashville Symphony in 1981. Twenty four years later, she decided to return to teaching strings full time in a public school setting. MNPS has been an adventure, with teaching stints in Bellevue, McMurray, Antioch, and Meigs Magnet Middle Schools, as well as several Metro high schools, before arriving at J.T. Moore M.S. last fall. She feels that she has found a home here, as the majority of her students share her passion for string playing. With the talent and determination that they have displayed over the school year, it is her joy to lead them in orchestra performances that have won accolades and awards.
