Clubs

The JT Moore PTO works hard to provide a variety of clubs that take place after the school day and sometimes on the weekends.  Parents, teachers and outside community members sponsor these clubs.  Most clubs are free of charge.  New clubs are started each year based upon new suggestions and ideas from students, parents, and teachers.

Take a look at what’s already scheduled, and make a note of what’s coming soon.  If you have any questions regarding clubs, or if you’d like to help facilitate a club, please contact Stephanie Brakefield or Gretchen Horner.

  • The clubs program at JT Moore is ever-changing, so please check back here and watch for email announcements regularly.
Unless a club specifically states that space is limited and requires signing up ahead of time, you may “sign up” simply by attending.
  • Please fill out the permission form for each club you plan to attend and take that to the club facilitator on your first day.
  • Please note that JT Moore’s hours are 8:55-3:55 Monday through Friday.  There is no supervision for children left before or after those hours unless they are attending a club or sports practice or are enrolled in the aftercare program.  Children participating in clubs MUST have a signed permission form indicating that they are allowed to remain after school for that club.  We cannot be responsible for any students who have not turned in this form.
  • There is an MTA bus scheduled to run from JT Moore to the corner of 8th and Edgehill every Monday through Friday.  The bus will pick up students from JT Moore at 5:35. Vouchers will be available to all students needing rides on this bus route.  Please note that this same bus will stop at the corner of 8th and Edgehill every Monday through Friday at 9:18 to pick up any students who have missed their regular school bus.
  • Please note that scholarships are available for all clubs with fees.  Contact Stephanie Brakefield for more information.

We are working on getting our interested harriers into a couple of the private middle school meets as well as taking them to see local high school and college races if they are so interested.  The ultimate goal is to introduce and teach the basics of a new sport to J.T. Moore students and have some fun doing it. There are also opportunities for those interested to participate in local, state, region and national cross country championships through USA Track & Field in November and December.  If athletes show interest I would be more than happy to continue the club through their meets and races.
If you have questions for me please don’t hesitate to call Scott at school 615-298-8095 ext 1005 or at home 615-968-5286.  Scott’s email is scott.william.bennett@gmail.com.
