GIRLS ON THE RUN has two more spots to fill for the spring session. Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a national organization that combines a developmentally focused curriculum with the power of running in order “to inspire, educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect, positive relationships and healthy active living.”.  In a series of bi-weekly, after-school practice sessions, trained female coaches instruct 3rd through 8th grade girls in research-based lessons designed to improve physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being.  Simultaneously, participants are taught the importance of goal setting while training for a 5k (3.1 mile) race, which they complete at the conclusion of the season with the support and encouragement of a volunteer Running Buddy/mentor.

Registration application can be obtained by contacting Program Director Charis Durden, 706-669-2049. This season practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding school holidays) starting on February 8th, 4 pm-5:30.

Registration fee is $200. Scholarships are available based on family income/number in household.

BAKING CLUB – There are still a couple of spots left, so grab them quick!  The club will meet on Wednesdays, beginning February 15th and go until March 28th.  Lindsey Ballenger and Leah Daniel, both JT Moore alumni, will be working with the students while Carol Ballenger will be the adult facilitator.  The club will again be limited to twelve members, so please contact Carol Ballenger if your student is interested in participating.
